On 27 November 2025, Louken had the privilege of joining partners, collaborators, and industry insiders at Nurasa for ImpacFat’s 3rd Novel Food Tasting Event, a showcase of cultivated innovation done right. The event featured two new food prototypes co-developed with Fuji Oil Asia, demonstrating the potential of cultivated fish fat in mainstream culinary experiences.
But more importantly, it marked a new milestone in Louken’s venture journey, as we officially announced our role as Lead Investor in ImpacFat’s seed round.

Why We Invested in ImpacFat
At Louken, we don’t just invest in brands, we build them. We believe in the power of purpose-led ventures that combine science, innovation, and heart to make life better. ImpacFat stood out to us as a company that embodies this vision.
As the first company in the world to cultivate fish fat using patented stem cell technology, ImpacFat sits at the intersection of wellness, sustainability, and functional nutrition. Developed with the backing of A*STAR technology, their proprietary process enables them to produce nutritious fish fat in a clean, sustainable, and scalable way.
And the applications go far beyond food. From skincare and supplements to pet nutrition, ImpacFat’s vision is to become a Total Wellness Solution — powered by cultivated science, and guided by real-world impact.

From Lab to Table: Novel Food Prototypes Take the Stage
The event featured two hero dishes that brought cultivated fish fat to life:
- Soboro Don: A comforting rice bowl topped with rich, umami-packed “egg yolk” made from cultivated fish fat — creamy, flavourful, and eggless.
- Aburi “Buta Bara”: A torch-seared skewer made from Fuji Oil’s Prime Soy Meat and layered with cultivated fat grown on edible scaffolds — creating the satisfying mouthfeel of grilled pork belly, with none of the animal farming.
Both dishes were prepared by Chef Edmund, former head chef of Offtrack, and were met with curiosity, excitement, and clear appreciation from guests — proof that alternative proteins are no longer just about ethics or science, but also taste.

From Singapore to the World: Scaling Functional Innovation
ImpacFat is not just a local startup. With the right strategic support, it holds the potential to be a regional pioneer in functional foods — aligning closely with Louken’s mission to support internationalisation and brand-led growth across Asia.
Our role as Lead Investor goes beyond funding. It includes building ImpacFat’s go-to-market strategy, refining their brand architecture, and helping them unlock opportunities in key regional markets, from foodservice to beauty, wellness, and beyond.
In a world hungry for more sustainable solutions, we believe ventures like ImpacFat represent the future, not just because of what they produce, but because of why and how they do it.

What’s Next
As ImpacFat continues to scale, Louken is proud to walk alongside the founders as a strategic partner and venture builder. With more tastings, product refinements, and market engagements on the horizon, the journey is just getting started.
Because when technology meets taste, and purpose meets possibility — impact happens.
